Trail Blazers acquire Rodney Hood in trade with Cavs

The Portland Trail Blazers have acquired Rodney Hood from the Cleveland Cavaliers for Nik Stauskas, Wade Baldwin and two future second-round picks, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Hood is the latest of players to be traded by the Cavs this season. In addition to Hood, George Hill, Sam Dekker, and Kyle Korver have all been dealt by Cleveland, and turned into multiple draft picks—one in the first round and several second-round picks.

Cleveland is obviously in rebuilding mode after LeBron James left them last summer. They are stockpiling draft picks, which have been more valuable as teams have been finding more gems in the second round lately. Baldwin and Stauskas are also expiring contracts for the Cavs.

Rodney Hood is a streaky scorer, but should provide the Trail Blazers would more depth and talent for their playoff push. He is just 26 years old and is averaging 12.2 points per game this season. The move could be one of those small trades that ends up being huge for Portland when the playoffs arrive.
